Today will be the last day of Sunday School classes for the year. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. – Proverbs 3:5-6 This Weekend at Trinity: Sunday: 9 am – Morning Prayer on Zoom Link will be sent on Saturday evening This Week at Trinity The Parish Office will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday Mother Judith will be away through Tuesday May-25th. She can be reached by phone [716.949.8194] and email. Holy Eucharist at 9 am As we begin our gradual return to in-person worship with full participation and singing, we will continue to live out the principle of the Gospel - to be in solidarity with the most vulnerable. At this time this includes our children and adults who are not vaccinated. We will wear masks during the service, and we will be seated with social distancing. Please RSVP each week so that we can plan our seating. You may complete the RSVP form on our website or leave a message at the Parish Office. https://www.trinitychurchmilford.org During the coming weeks we will grow into a clearer understanding of best practices, and we will modify our practices accordingly. To learn more click here. The June issue of The Trinitarian will be posted and mailed this week. Please contact the Parish Office if you do not receive yours. Celebrating our Children & Youth & Our Graduates: Mark your Calendars! June 6th – Celebrating our Children & Youth: Sunday School students and youth will be our Readers. We will celebrate their accomplishments this year, and we will celebrate the ministries of Rachel Carpenter as Church School Coordinator & Sarah Prevelige as Youth Group Mentor. June 13th – Honoring our Graduates: We will celebrate our youth and young adults graduating from 8th grade, high school, and college. Please contact Beth Moeller if someone in your family is graduating from 8th grade, high school, or college. The JULIETSs, who have not been meeting due to the pandemic, plan to get together on June 2, at 12:30. If you would like to join us for lunch at New England Steak and Seafood in Mendon, please let Pat Keppler know: 508 966-0003 or 508 246-9703 or [email protected]. This restaurant is indoors but usually not crowded at lunch, and we should be able to reasonably socially distance there. All women from the parish are welcome to join this group. It should be fun! Altar Flowers: Summer Now that we will be gathering for Holy Eucharist every Sunday, we would like to have fresh flowers at the altar every week. However, our florist reports that prices have increased significantly during the pandemic. We invite donations from your gardens. Please contact Mary-Ellen Yaroshefski if you wish to contribute. This may be an opportunity for thanksgiving or memorials. Memorial Day Grab n Go lunches will be prepared and distributed by Girl Scout Troop # 11369 from 11am - noon. Many thanks to Scouts Kim and Madelyn Stochaj, Isabella Shady, Josephine Dew, and Caitlyn Bangert and to adult members Beth and Wayne Stochaj and Jennifer Shady. We thank them for their generosity and ingenuity. The Good News Gardens We have been encouraging container gardening, but if you long to have your hands in the earth, you are invited to volunteer at "Garden of Hope" on the bike/walk rail trail in Milford. Mary Johnson is collaborating with Lisa Trussis to manage the garden at Christopher's Corner, near Fino Field Pool, directly off the bike path. On June 5th we will have a garden-work party at 9am. If you are interested in shoveling dirt or planting or watering you are welcome to join us! We will have a table with containers for those who want to garden but cannot get down on their hands and knees to do the work. You can still plant, water and weed. The earth is amazing! Gardening can be a chore, a healing process, nurturing, wearying and uplifting - all at the same time. And it is like alchemy, instead of creating gold, it produces food. And I do love to eat! If you have a plant, nurture it and share the harvest. If you don't have one yet, but want one, we are going to give more plants away after Memorial Day. Charlie has been transplanting the plants and helping them to grow. Stayed tuned for the next few give away dates. - Mary Johnson Register for Webinars here. Last week we mentioned the water buffalo, also known as the 'gentle giant'. This week, it is the heifer, which is a young, female cow. We all know that cows give milk, which provides nutrition. Families that receive a heifer will have milk to drink and can sell any extra milk they have, which enables them to boost their income. A heifer also provides fertilizer, which helps with a better crop yield and in turn results in food for families. Those that receive a heifer are provided education and training on taking care of the animal, which benefits both the family and the heifer herself. If the heifer has off spring, they are passed on to other families in the community, so the entire community benefits. One female cow can help bring stability to so many people struggling with hunger issues, something to think about the next time you reach for a glass of milk. Last week we mentioned sheep, this week it is the mighty water buffalo. The water buffalo is actually called 'the gentle giant'. A water buffalo allows a farmer to plant more than four times as many crops. This is due to the water buffalo helping to till the fields instead of the farmer planting by hand; in fact, with a water buffalo a farmer can sow a field in days instead of the weeks it would take to do by hand. People living in marshland areas around the world depend on these gentle giants. A water buffalo also provides fertilizer for the crops, and did you know that a water buffalo can produce milk that is high in protein and nutrients? The water buffalo is an important animal to many! Please remember during Lent to add a coin to your mite box/container for things you are thankful for! Thank you. Isn’t it amazing that God cares about what worries us?! That’s something to celebrate! On the Sundays and Wednesdays during March we are including prayers in observance of Women's History Month. This Sunday we are launching The Good News Nursery. Mary Johnson is leading us in this new ministry designed to teach container gardening so people can grow small gardens at home. We will teach about gardening as a way of dealing with food insecurity. We plan to give out seedlings to members of our congregation and to people in the community so that anyone who wants to plant a container garden at home can get the help they need to get started. Using recycled containers will raise our awareness about the environmental impact of our actions. We will bless seedlings and containers on Sunday April 18th to be given to our Grab n Go guests on Earth Day (April 22nd) and to our congregation and other friends on the following weekend (April 24th & 25th). Our vision is that, rather than having a community garden on Trinity property, we will have container gardens throughout our community. This Weekend at Trinity: Sunday: 9 am - Morning Prayer on Zoom.
